We design beautiful climate responsive homes.

At Project Habitation, we listen closely to understand your needs and design spaces that enhance your life. We manipulate form, space and texture, light and shade, openness and enclosure to create beautiful environments inside and out. Spaces that function well, that define you and how you like to live and work.  Whether it’s a sunlit breakfast in the courtyard, a cool breeze in summer or sharing a drink on the deck watching the setting sun, we help you bring these moments to life. To achieve all this, our designs are tailored to your needs, your taste, your site and the sub-tropical climate of South East Queensland and Northern NSW.

We seek to celebrate the best aspects of the local climate and connect intimately with the outdoors. Cool in summer, cosy in winter and delightful day and night, rain and shine. Sustainable designs by Project Habitation can save you money and energy, water and resources. Our designs can help you get the most out of every square meter with efficient planning and adaptable spaces.

Design Audits for climate responsiveness

We work with you through a simple and effective design process.

To begin, we will meet with you in person and on-site. Together we can discuss your dreams and aspirations for the project. We will also consider the unique opportunities and challenges of your site. This is the perfect opportunity to ask us any questions you have about the design process and voice any concerns you may have.

Once we understand what you want to achieve and the scope of your project, we then send you a fee proposal for our services. If you wish to go ahead with our service, we then begin the design process. This first on-site meeting is free if you decide to engage our services (otherwise $185 payable only if upon receiving our fee proposal you do not wish to go ahead).

WHY DO WE CHARGE A FEE?

Yes we charge a fee for the initial consultation which is then waived if you engage our services. This fee is tiny by comparison to the overall costs of a project, in fact it is a fraction of the cost of a front door. We spend several hours doing research and preparation before and after these initial meetings in order to give you a tailored fee proposal that is unique to your project, site and circumstances. Like most of the better quality design practices, we put a value on our time as it helps us to be dedicated to the clients that are serious about having a successful project, led by professional designers at very reasonable industry rates.

We're looking forward to meeting you.

Have a chat with us and we will come to you to discuss the possibilities. The joy in our work comes from designing homes for people that exceed what they thought was possible. Our client relationships are founded on empathy and communication. By understanding how you like to live and work, we can help bring your dreams to life.

Alyssa Clift

MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE
B. DES (ARCH)
B. DES (INTERIOR)

Recognising there was a gap in the market for aesthetically beautiful and climate responsive residential design, Alyssa launched Project Habitation in 2013. Her residential portfolio specialises in subtropical design, passive climate control, off grid and sustainable solutions with low and even zero maintenance. All projects led by Alyssa also consider the outdoor environment and go as far as specifying native and local species to encourage a thriving site ecology. Her natural design ability and extensive experience ensure a smooth process and elegant results.
